great book on bringing awareness to mindful eating! read it for a university course but, would recommend to any one who is thinking about learning a new way of eating that helps you get in touch with your meal, another book to add to my diet guide collection. Much less typical as most in my collection but filled with some excellent ideas for anyone trying to win at the losing game., This is a great guide for EVERYONE as the information crosses as well as can be applied to all facets of our lives. Really love the accompanying CD., Outstanding book with wonderfully surprising information functions., I have been honored to have Dr . Bays as a Zen teacher for many years and this guide is a stellar sort of how gifted she while others in the Zen community have become. Our United states relationship to food seems to have been more food-as-fuel than any particular enjoyment. No surprise that fast food is so popular.
I have used this book's methods in my own life and have significantly better health and substantial weight loss in my mid-60's. Many of the ways to engage the senses in this guide ask us to sluggish down and truly enjoy what we are eating.
I've taught several classes by using this guide and examples of how to eat more joyfully. Response practically always is " oh, I never imagined food could be this good"., Very interesting read! I enjoyed the message of the story and will take it with me when I feel eating., This guide offers help in understanding the reasons that we eat, what and exactly how we eat, etc. A reminder to be mindful with eating is definitely an extension of mindfulness on earth. My practice currently is to be aware, mindful, observant of my thoughts, feelings, body sensations throughout the day (without judgement) as events arise in the moment. Eating and hunger are a part of this practice and i also was very happy that this book supports this process and offers approach to the practice of eating. My prayers for compassion, loving kindness, joy and equanimity for all., This book opens your pondering about food and your relationship to it. You learn that by augmenting mindfulness, you can control your guilt, weight and health in a new and meaningful way.
